In the seemingly never ending will I-won’t I of will MontegoMan go racing, we’re back to “Won’t I”. The track is basically a lake so the race has been postponed a few weeks. Unfortunately I’m not sure I can pull off racing that day as it’s....my wife’s birthday it was postponed to.

I wonder how good of a birthday present I need to give her to be able to spend her birthday racing?

Yeah, this sucks. I had a bunch of cascading postponements/schedule-conflicts last year too. And it looks like our first autocross of the year is likely to be snowed out, meaning I’m out of business until May at least. I got pulled over for speeding a couple weeks back, so I’m concerned my backroads days are at an end — hoping that storm blows out to sea!

Haha that’s a good thought! It’s in South Lyon in May by the way and that’s the next race.

I’m putting in all new suspension on Friday next week (6 new control arms, tie rod ends, front quick struts, and rear shocks) so at least I’ll be on brand new suspension instead of worn out 100k mile suspension.

Hopefully I’ll see you in South Lyon

I was basically thinking well fuck it I’ll run on the crappy stuff and if it goes out I’ve got all the parts at home after the tow truck.

But all the parts are in today so I’ll do it next friday anyhow.

I’ve actually had this car with water about lapping over it’s hood. Almost lost it in the flood that day a few years ago in the Detroit area.

Before people bash me for driving in rising water I was trying to get to my kid to pick him up from daycare.

you do what youve got to when kids are involved mate. i know that from doing the same. i picked my kids up with a “dead” peugot 306dt

i hit some water in my old peugeot and it stopped dead. pushed it out and took the glow plugs out, cranked it and put them back only to find the fuse box had shorted out and killed all the electrics when i tried to start it...... oh joy. so i had a quick rewire to get it running and went to pick them up with the car running with 3 wires and no electronics at all.

i loved that car and got it fixed and working as good as new... ish. 2 weeks later it got stolen and burnt out

yeah man, but I put that disclaimer on because I was expecting “hey stupid what were you doing in that water!” and that disclaimer completely clears me of stupidity haha (at least for that occurrence)

Sucks about that peug, I only had a little bit of water on the floor boards/carpet, left it in the garage with the windows down a few days and it was all good.

I swear the water hit the hood and no problems with the engine. I guess every connector is on the top of the motor or ford’s water proofing is impressive. haha.

Yep.

Keeping the Milan long term. I think I just needed a reason to be excited about it again. I was more bored of the vehicle than anything. The idea of rallying it has gotten me really excited again.
